As most of you know, I have teamed up with Roots and Shoots Farm for this season’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Throughout the season, I will post updates about what we receive, recipe suggestions, and tips and tricks to get the most out of your CSA. To find a CSA in your area, simply search the Internet for “CSA” + your city.
There is definitely a distinct fall-like chill in the air this morning.
Even though I am sad about the end of summer, I am so excited about our CSA share. This year’s crops are so amazing.
As some of you know, I am preparing for a back surgery and am trying to pack away as much food as possible into the freezer and pantry.
Here are some tips and recipes for those who want to make the best use out of your CSA, or extras you receive from friends or family:
- Preserving Herbs
- Drying garlic and spring onions
- Roasted Tomatoes
- Refrigerator Pickles
- CSA Storage Strategies
- Beef Stew
- Fresh Zucchini Soup (use any squash you like)
- Kale Pesto
Here is a list of what we received:
- Small bunch of tender Kale or Chard
- Delicata Squash
- Romanesco
- Tomatoes
- Peppers
- Hot Peppers
- Choice of herbs
Choose 4 quarts of the following (any combo)
- Early Potatoes
- Carrots
- Beets
- Onions
Each week I will get home as quick as possible so that I can do an unboxing video so everyone can see what we received.
Check back each week to see our next unboxing. I have a feeling we are in for some amazing food.
